Let me tell you about myself. My name is Anat and I am originally from Israel. I grew up in a home that always had fresh home cooked meals, full of flavors and love. When I got to Austin, it was natural to bring those delicious flavors with me through my cooking. My wish is to bring the tastes and tradition of Challah bread to Austin, and to share my love of cooking and bringing together people through the love of food.

My kitchen is a place not just for cooking, but a place to create conversation. I cannot count the times my most engaging, closest, and even most intimate conversations started there. The long process of cooking - preparing, stirring, tasting, testing - gives family and friends time to relax and open up to each other.  And finally sitting down at a table with food that looks beautiful, and is tasty, and rich in flavors, makes people want to share themselves and their stories. The reason I started Bread and Zest is to bring this taste of traditional Challah bread - but with new flavor twists - to as many friends as I can.

My Challah bread is clean, something which I believe in personally. The best food and the best flavors come out together when you use simple and quality ingredients. Although my gramma’s Challah bread was made with eggs and dairy, I am adding some zest to an old traditional recipe.

Every Challah bread of mine is vegan and made with love, care, and organic ingredients. Each order comes with at least one side, which enriches the eating experience, and can be a small meal or a start to a bigger feast.
